MAHABHARATHA – THE TIMELESS EPIC

The Kala Utsav, an annual cultural event at the Vagdevi Vilas Institutions, serves as a vibrant platform for students, teachers, and parents to come together and celebrate the rich tapestry of talent within the school community. This year, Kala Utsav was held on August 23rd and 24th. The mega event embraced the theme “MAHABHARATHA,” aiming to foster unity, pride, and a sense of accomplishment among the participants. The festivities commenced with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by esteemed dignitaries, including Chief Guest Shatavadhani Dr. R Ganesh, Chairman Shri. K Harish, CEO Kum. Shyallet Sabrina and Principal Smt. Padma Sagar. The first day featured a welcome address from Shri. K Harish, Chairman VVI who reflected on the school’s achievements and emphasized the importance of holistic education, followed by an inspiring inaugural speech from Dr. R Ganesh, which set an uplifting tone for the celebrations. The event featured a wide array of cultural performances and competitions. This was started by a mesmerizing classical dance competition by the participants from various schools. A total of 19 competitions were conducted at different venues in the school premises

As the day unfolded, a variety of cultural performances and competitions captivated the audience. The first day showcased a classical dance competition where students from different grades performed, including a remarkable presentation by Grades 1, 2, 5, 6, and 11, 12, illustrating key episodes from the Mahabharatha.

The second day welcomed even more participants and included events like Veda Chanting, poetry writing, contemporary dance, and fancy dress competitions. The Kala Utsav was honoured with the presence of distinguished guests Dr. Arun Yogiraj, renowned sculptor of the Ram temple’s Rama Murti, Dr. K D Nayak, Former Director General of DRDO, and Smt. Nagavalli Nagaraj, acclaimed Carnatic Classical musician. The distinguished guests shared their valuable thoughts with the audience. The thoughts shared by them were truly motivating and inspiring. Chairman Shri. K Harish graciously felicitated the esteemed guests, recognizing their contributions. The program concluded with breath-taking performances from students in Grades 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9, 10, leaving the audience in awe. With numerous competitions such as Bhagavad Gita chanting, quiz contests, and artistic displays, the Kala Utsav was a resounding success, beautifully showcasing the talents of Vagdevi Vilas students and reinforcing the cultural significance of the Mahabharatha theme throughout the event.
